Multiple Volkl players have been on winning streaks since the beginning of last week, claiming titles and making deep runs at tournaments. California’s own and USC alumnus Sabrina Santamaria is one of those players, having just won an ITF title in Canada alongside former Bruin Catherine Harrison. Santamaria, currently ranked 87th in the world in doubles and who had a high ranking of 53 in 2019, raced to the finish line without dropping a set at the $60,000 ITF event in Calgary. The partnership between the two doubles stars began in February of this year, when Santamaria claimed her first-ever WTA title in Monterrey, Mexico.
Meanwhile, over in Europe in Turkey, Anastasia Zolotareva just won her sixth ITF singles title this year at the 15K event in Antalya. It’s her second ITF singles title in two weeks, having won the same event the week prior as well. After fighting her way through a tough three-setter in the second round of the tournament, Zolotareva found herself in the final in a similar scenario. She was about to go down in straight sets but forcing her opponent to a tiebreaker and then squeezing out a win, 6-4 in the third set! With this victory, the 20-year-old is ranked 274 on the WTA tour in singles, a couple of spots away from surpassing her career-high ranking - well-done, Anastasia!
And another Volkl player has been on a winning streak over in Europe. Oleksandra Oliynykova just won a singles title at an ITF in Greece, dropping only one set en route to her victory over the top seed. In the past month, the 21-year-old has won three titles (two in singles, and one in doubles) and has had an impressive record of 14-2 in singles overall! Congratulations to Volkl player Hunter Reese, who recently won yet another Challenger title alongside fellow American Tennys Sandgren — the dynamic duo (both of whom attended the University of Tennessee) captured the Knoxville title which is the home turf for Reese’s alma mater, the Tennessee Volunteers. The unseeded team won two super-tiebreak matches en route to their doubles title. Reese is currently 80th in the ATP tour doubles rankings, and reached his highest ranking earlier this summer at 73.
